A new client came to see me this week and told me the story about how her entire life turned around after she hired a professional organizer.

She lost weight, empowering herself to purchase a whole new wardrobe. Her confidence improved and she felt totally awesome.

Personally speaking, I was never much of a housekeeper before I became an energy healer.

When I would go to study with my mentor in healing up in Canada, she would sometimes start our week-long lessons by asking us what we did to clear our studios.

Nowadays I use Reiki to clear the energy in my studio before every hands-on healing. People walk in and announce they feel immediately better just walking in the door. The energy here is so soft, so open and so peaceful they can begin to reorganize their bodies, minds and spirits without me saying a word or lifting a finger.

This may be one reason my orchids grow so lushly and why I have been able to photograph angels all around my studio.

“If I was an angel, this is definitely where I would hang out,” I have often thought to myself.

You can benefit from learning what energy healing can teach you about housekeeping because your environment is the most important factor in creating your mental and physical health.

Here are three important lessons energy healing can teach you about housekeeping:

  1. As I wrote about in my Amazon No. 1 bestseller What Is Healing? Awaken Your Intuitive Power for Health and Happiness, there are only four problems ever: blocks, congestion, resistance or interference. The most simple way to describe congestion is clutter. Congestion is what blocks your arteries, what keeps you from being creative, what keeps you stuck. Congestion is energy that doesn’t move and therefore becomes stagnant, unable to move forward and literally and figuratively stuck in the past. Congestion becomes moldy, collecting bacteria and causing ill-health. If you fail to clean up, your entire energy slows down to the point where you can not move forward. Nothing new can enter until you create the space. Yogis refer to such a state as tamas, which deludes all beings from their spiritual truth. In a tamasic state you feel sluggish, tend to overeat and feel exhausted, depressed, fearful and resistant to change. In acupuncture terms, this can be described as a block in your large intestine meridian. You must joyfully release the past to make the space for beneficial energy.
  2. The practice of smudging your environment has been scientifically proven to kill bad bacteria. In a 2007 study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, scientists showed that medicinal smoke reduced pathogenic bacteria Corynebacterium urealyticum, Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens, Enterobacter aerogenes (Klebsiella mobilis), Kocuria rosea, Pseudomonas syringae pv. persicae, Staphylococcus lentus, and Xanthomonas campestris pv. tardicrescens. If you feel stuck in congestion and unmotivated to clean up, you may want to start by smudge your space by burning sage. Whenever I use sage or Reiki healing energy, I say this prayer as I clear: “Heavenly Father, I call on the forces of nature to converge to balance all detrimental energies and increase all beneficial energies in this healing space for the benefit of all living beings. I ask that this be done in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”
  3. Excellent health occurs when all five elements of Chinese medicine flow in balance. Fire, earth, metal, water and wood. These five elements feed each other and keep each other in check. Once you have cleared your space of old, unhealthy energy keeping you fat, sick and depressed, you can create a healthy environment and a more empowered future for yourself by balancing all five elements in your living and work space. This requires you to use your intention. Look at every room and ask yourself three questions. A, “What do I need to give away?” B, “What do I need to bring in?” and C, “What do I need to bring into balance?” A very wise scientist I heard lecture once said, “If you want to discover what’s been going on in your unconscious mind, look down at your body.” I would add to that, “If you want to discover what your future looks like, observe your work and living space.” Take your health and life to a whole new level by taking your environment to the best possible vibration.

What is healing? Healing happens when you mop, dust, vacuum, polish and  donate unused items to the Goodwill and then very intentionally create a space where you can thrive.
