Some of the best-known forms of calming exercise include tai chi, qi gong and yoga.
Yoga that is performed in a hot room is generally not considered calming.
The way you will know that is if your heart rate continuously exceeds 90 beats per minute.
The reason that is important is, once again, your body has to produce adrenalin and cortisol to keep your heart rate over 90 beats per minute.
Once you are pumping out adrenalin and cortisol, you are actually breaking yourself down.
That is because the stress hormone cortisol is the most destructive hormone in the body.
Cortisol breaks down hair, tissue and bone.
There is also a phenomenon called cortisol steal.
When you are body is pumping out adrenalin, your body decides, “Well, I don’t have time to have sex or make babies,” and the mother hormones DHEA and Pregnenelone that would ordinarily be shifted into producing your sex hormones estrogen, testosterone and progesterone get converted into your stress hormones.
This is why performing stimulating, stressful exercise is actually counterproductive, especially as you age.
It is more important to work out smarter, not harder.
Calming exercise is one of the smartest natural healing remedies there is!
