Three Powerful Ways to Detoxify Your Life Right Now

You can clear out old energy and draw in fresh, new prana with three powerful detoxification practices:

  1. A detox diet to clear your body
  2. Feng shui to clear your environment
  3. Breathwork to clear your mind

Here’s how I recommend you go about taking advantage of these three profoundly helpful tools.

A Detox Diet

As we age, your body is constantly breaking down old cells.

You hold toxins in your fat cells.

The lower the level of your cellular toxicity, the less likely you will be to develop cancer and other degenerative diseases of aging.

Here’s the detox eating plan I’ve been recommending for my clients for decades.

Proteins:

Women: 8-12 ounces total organic meat daily. Men: 10-15 ounces total organic meat daily.

Be sure to include grass fed beef, at least 9 ounces per week and at least 2 organic eggs every week. Start every day with a Biodetox shake to support all your systems of detoxification. Biodetox is anti-inflammatory so it decreases pain in your body and heals your GI system.

Carbohydrates:

2-5 fruits daily (1 whole fruit or 1 cup  berries)

Unlimited nonstarchy vegetables

Fats:

Include a healthy fat at every minimeal: butter, olive oil, coconut oil or ground flaxseed.

May include ¼ cup of organic nuts daily.

Optional Juices:

Unlimited unsweetened cranberry juice – aids the kidneys

Unlimited fresh-squeezed lemon juice – aids the liver

You may sweeten with stevia to taste and add sparkling mineral water or fresh filtered water.

You must:

Eat at least every 3 hours. More often if hungry. Have a minimum of 5 minimeals every day. Drink at least 24 ounces of water first thing in the morning – benefits the colon.

Exercise:

Walk 20 minutes daily, minimum, to aid the lymph system. May break up exercise (i.e., two 10-minute walks). Those who have been exercising regularly may work out up to but no more than one hour of a day, six days a week. No high intensity cardio where your heart rate exceeds 90 beats per minute to avoid increasing your stress hormones cortisol and adrenalin. Consider joining my yoga and qi gong classes to learn how to exercise in ways that turn off your stress while burning fat, strengthening your body, increasing your energy and improving your mobility.

Rest:

Strive for 10 hours of rest daily. Example: sleep 8 hours, nap 1 hour, meditate 30 minutes, hot bath 30 minutes.

No:

Alcohol

Caffeine

Sugar (substitute stevia)

Artificial sugar substitutes

Wheat

Soy

If you are still hungry, increase your protein intake.

To combat sugar cravings: Have an apple with organic peanut or almond butter.

To combat adrenal fatigue: Be sure to have a protein snack daily at 3-4 p.m.

To improve your skin: Include at least one green juice daily.

Benefits:

Weight loss

Increased energy

Better insulin handling

Improved immune function

Decreased risk for degenerative diseases of aging

Feng Shui

Although I am not a Feng shui practitioner, I am constantly advising my clients to remember that your environment is the most powerful factor in your well being.

Often in medical intuitive readings I find that my clients health problems are triggered by mold or even toxic chemicals in their home or workplace.

In Atlanta, I refer my clients to Feng Shui Master Katherine Graham of Haven Feng Shui.

Whether you work with Katherine Graham, another Feng Shui master or learn about it from a book, you will discover that optimizing your home and work environment for your overall wellbeing leads to profound results.

If you don’t know where to begin, start by decluttering.

Throw away, donate to charity or find another home for any object you have not used in the past year.

In Feng Shui, they say if you want to improve your life, change 27 things in your home environment.

Now is a great time for spring cleaning.

Burn sage in every room to clear out old energy. Many people are surprised to learn that in addition to the spiritual benefits, sage is also antibacterial and antimicrobial.

Open all your windows to let in fresh air.

Consider having your air ducts professionally cleaned. You can learn why this is so helpful in this interview I did with Lee Freeman of www.toofreshAQ.com.

If you constantly struggle with mold and find yourself constantly ill, consider purchasing an air filter that gets rid of mold. I recommend a Molekule for our high humidity Atlanta climate. Remember that any time your humidity is over 50 percent, the environment is ripe to grow mold so you may want to consider a whole-house dehumidifier.

Mold is a major trigger for chronic illnesses such as Epstein Barr Virus so there is a direct, do not pass go, do not collect $200 connection between the health of your environment and your own personal well being.

If you are unsure whether your environment is triggering your illness, set up an appointment for a medical intuitive reading with me and we can discuss why all your previous efforts to get well have not yet paid off.

Breathwork

Many of us want to meditate but find ourselves flooded with constant thoughts.

You can clear your mind most easily by practicing breathwork.

I begin every day with prayer, breathing exercises and gratitude.

Here is my favorite breathwork routine:

Start by sitting or lying down in a comfortable position.

1.ONE MINUTE: Focus on lengthening your inhale.

2.ONE MINUTE: Focus on lengthening your exhale.

3.ONE MINUTE: Focus on making your inhale and exhale equally long and deep.

Sit up to practice the following five breaths.

4.ONE MINUTE: Bellows Breath. Inhale into your belly and exhale forcibly by contracting your solar plexus.

5.ONE MINUTE: Breath of Fire. Inhaling and exhaling rapidly, pump your diaphragm. Your inhale will happen naturally.

6.ONE MINUTE: Alternate nostril breathing. Inhale through your right nostril. With the thumb of your right hand, close the right nostril. Exhale through your left nostril. With the ring finger of your right hand, close the left nostril. Exhale through your right nostril. Use your thumb to close your right nostril. Exhale through the left nostril. Use your ring finger to close the left. Repeat.

7.ONE MINUTE: Bumblebee breath. Place your pointer finger and middle finger on your forehead. Place your thumbs on your ear flaps and close your ears. Place your ring finger lightly on your closed eyelids. Little finger rests on your cheekbones. Make a humming sound like a bee.

8.ONE MINUTE: Ocean breath. Open your mouth, relax your jaw. Inhale and make the sound of the ocean in the back of your throat. Exhale and make the sound of the ocean. Close your lips and continue making the sound of the ocean.
